Willie was born in Greensboro, North Carolina and is a native of Statesboro, Georgia. He is a proud graduate from Georgia Southern University where he received his B.S. in Sport Management and a Master’s degree in Sport Management. While at Georgia Southern, he was a four-year letter winner on the football team. He is also a proud graduate from the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law where he received his J.D and served as the Student Bar Association President. Willie began his legal career as In-House Counsel at the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, a labor union with over 1.2 million members. As Counsel for the Teamsters Public Services Division, he advocates for workers that provide critical public and healthcare services across the country. Willie resides in Oxon Hill, Maryland with his wife, Flor Garay Burden, Esq. The couple is expecting their first child in August 2024.
