Registered Nurse
Lanice Lawson, RN, earned her nursing degree with honors from Mott Community College (2002). With nearly 15 years of bedside nursing experience, providing excellent care for patients has been her trademark. For the past eleven years, she has been a team member of the nursing staff on the pulmonary unit at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, Michigan. There she earned recognition for longevity, teamwork and exceptional patient customer service. She recently moved to a higher level of care, excepting a position on the cardiac unit, and has served there for the past two years. An advocate for positive change and basic human rights, Lanice decided to take a proactive stance against the Flint water Crisis and founded Bottles for the Babies, a clean water initiative geared towards providing clean, safe drinking water to area children and their families. Lanice began her mission in September 2015, of getting clean, safe drinking water to thousands of schoolchildren in the community, and to date, her team has successfully delivered nearly a half of a million bottles of water to the citizens of Flint, as well as making continuous education their top priority, as there remains such a prominent need. Lanice has received notoriety nationwide for her grassroots efforts, and has been featured on MSNBC, National Public Radio, The Steve Harvey Show and many other local, cable and satellite affiliates. Recently, she has been interviewed by the Miami Herald, the Detroit Free Press and many other national publications. Currently, her organization has evolved, and she is transitioning her efforts into a non-profit organization to provide continuous care and wraparound services to all families in the city of Flint, MI who have been affected by lead.
