Na Tosha N. Gatson, MD, PhD

Na Tosha N. Gatson fights for the survivorship and quality of life for brain cancer patients and their families. As a Neuro-Oncologist, she aims to preserve patient’s speech, thought, and movement – in efforts to allow patients to live as well as possible for as long as possible. As a Scientist, Na Tosha endeavors to advance her field through scientific discovery and mentorship. The human condition, through all its inequities, requires justice in healthcare above all other aspects. This balance is best realized through increased minority representation in healthcare at all levels. It is always important to recognize how we shape our communities through leadership, scholarship, and mentorship. We must take this opportunity to appreciate that from whence we’ve come, embrace our present position, and vow to be the authors of the future of healthcare to come.

Na Tosha is originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana and earned a B.A. from Indiana University (Fort Wayne Campus) with a major focus in Biology and Psychology. She went on to earn a M.D. and Ph.D. as part of the Medical Scientist Training Program at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Her Ph.D. (Immunology) research was focused to investigate the role for reproductive serum factors on central nervous system autoimmune injury.

Na Tosha went on to complete a residency in Neurology with an added 1-yr NIH/NINDS Neurosurgery research fellowship at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Presently, Na Tosha is completing a Neuro-Oncology fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She has recently joined the team at Geisinger Health Systems in Pennsylvania as an Associate Neuro-Oncologist.
