Ms. Emeobong “Eme” Martin possesses over 11 years of experience in public health research and writing in academic, government, and community-based settings. She earned her master’s in public health in behavioral science and health education from Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri and a bachelor’s in biochemistry from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. With a long-standing passion for addressing the health needs of vulnerable communities, Ms. Martin’s health equity experience includes planning and evaluating health programs for chronic and infectious diseases in urban communities and training healthcare professionals on delivering culturally competent care.

Currently, Ms. Martin works within her passion of improving health equity as the Project Manager for Cultural Competence at the Adventist HealthCare Center for Health Equity and Wellness just outside of Washington, DC in Gaithersburg, Maryland. She leads initiatives to improve patient- and family-centered care through cultural competence within the Adventist HealthCare System as well with LifeBridge Health of Baltimore and MulitCare Health System based in western Washington State. Ms. Martin is also responsible for executing the Center’s annual conference on health disparities that attracts 250 healthcare leaders from the Washington, DC and Baltimore metropolitan areas. Lastly, she directs the Adventist HealthCare Center for Health Equity and Wellness’ marketing and communication efforts via social media, serving as the chief editor of the organization’s monthly e-newsletter that is distributed to nearly 3,000 subscribers.
