Jamaji C. Nwanaji-Enwerem is a postdoctoral research fellow in environmental health sciences at UC Berkeley School of Public Health and a final-year MD/MPP candidate at Harvard Medical School and Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Valedictorian from Morehouse College with a BS in Biology, and earned his PhD in the Harvard University Biological Sciences in Public Health program (Environmental Health concentration). He is an NIH National Research Service Award Principal Investigator and a former elected member of the International Society of Exposure Science Board of Directors. Dr. Nwanaji-Enwerem is the recipient of numerous prestigious fellowships including the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship, the Zuckerman Fellowship at the Harvard Center for Public Leadership, the Belfer Center International and Global Affairs Fellowship, and the UNCF/Merck Research Fellowship. Most recently, he was honored as an Agents of Change in Environmental Health Fellow – an initiative committed to amplifying neglected voices in environmental health. He has authored several peer-reviewed publications. Many of these works, including a commentary on United States indoor air policy during the COVID-19 pandemic and research examining the health effects of air pollutant exposure in residents of the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria, are aimed at improving the health of racial minorities and the underserved. Additionally, Dr. Nwanaji-Enwerem serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for environmental health journals including Environmental Science & Technology, Environment International, and Environmental Health Insights. Presently, his research examines the topics of human aging, environmental exposures, health biomarkers, science/health/environmental public policy, and racial health equity.
