As the Associate Director of Minority Initiatives, Dr. Ellis ensures the voice of minority surgeons, patients and team members are actively engaged and served by the mission of Zimmer Biomet, to alleviate pain and improve quality of life for patients around the world. Her work is based in intersection of corporate social responsibility, outreach to marginalized communities, support of current and future underrepresented minority orthopedists and deconstructing the systems that underscore inequality and bias. In her previous role as lead of Medical Affairs, she facilitated compliant communications with payers and providers regarding Zimmer Biomet products; bridging the gap between current research and development projects and the end user. Her team was tasked with capturing valuable customer insights to strategically improve medical education, while serving as an internal expert to improve products and procedures for better patient outcomes. At Zimmer Biomet, she has received several recognition and impact awards for her focus on putting customers first and collaborating with others to achieve results.

Dr. Ellis is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health’s Medical Scientist Training Program, receiving her medical doctorate and doctorate of Biomedical Engineering in December 2013. Her specific area of research focused on using biomimetic platforms to facilitate delivery of bioactive healing factors in a controlled, sustained manner. Her published research appears in scientific Biomaterial journals, stem cell book chapters and has been presented across the nation. As a medical and graduate student, she was integral to improving the climate for minority students at the University of Wisconsin and across the country. She is a lifetime member of the Student National Medical Association, serving as National President from 2009-2010. She continues to mentor undergraduate and medical students since her undergraduate years at the University of Pittsburgh. Within the Columbus Ohio Community, she is civically engaged with the Junior League, a 2020 fellow of the African American Leadership Academy, a loving wife and dedicated mother of three children.
