Rashard Johnson is President of both Advocate Trinity Hospital, in Chicago, and Advocate South Suburban Hospital, in Hazel Crest, Ill., which are part of Advocate Health Care, the 10th largest not-for-profit, integrated health system in the United States.
Johnson, 37, oversees the strategic direction and operation of Advocate Trinity’s 205-bed hospital, which has served the Southeast Side of Chicago for over 120 years. Additionally, Johnson provides executive leadership over Advocate South Suburban Hospital’s 230 beds and support services, 700 physicians, 1,100 team members and building facilities –– including oversight of the $98 million construction of a new surgical procedural center that will expand the hospital’s footprint by 90,000 square feet.
Johnson joined Advocate in September 2018. Since then, he has spearheaded several major high reliability safety improvements, enhanced service lines through physician recruitment and led Advocate Trinity and South Suburban hospitals to the lowest readmission rates and the highest hygiene practices compliance rates in the Advocate system, respectively.
Before joining Advocate from the greater Houston, Texas area, Johnson served as Vice President of Operations and Chief Operating Officer for CHI St. Luke’s Health-The Woodlands, Lakeside, and Springwoods Village Hospitals. In this role, Johnson led support services for three hospitals, the Wound Care Center, Sleep Centers, and Performance Medicine outpatient clinics, as well as CHI St. Luke’s Health’s four free-standing emergency departments. He is credited with successfully increasing patient satisfaction and overall hospital ratings by 13 percentage points in a single year.
Johnson earned a master’s degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Central Florida, in Orlando. Rashard Johnson is a member of the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE) and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). He also serves on the Board of Directors for The Greater Chicago March of Dimes as well as the YMCA of Chicago, Southside YMCA Board of Directors. He and his wife, Donnidra, have four children and have dedicated their lives to helping moms and babies across the country after their special needs child, Jazzy, was born at 26 weeks weighing 2 lbs.
