Dr. Leo Moore is a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Moore’s research and professional interests include identifying and eliminating minority LGBT health disparities, minority men’s health and wellness, and HIV along the continuum of care.
As a clinical scholar, Dr. Moore is currently partnering with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health to implement pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV prevention into community health clinics in areas with high rates of HIV. These clinics currently provide PrEP at no cost to patients. Dr. Moore also currently serves as co-chair of the Black Treatment Advocates Network of Los Angeles, which works to raise collective HIV knowledge as well as advocate for policy changes to close the gap in HIV disparities affecting the Black community.
Dr. Moore has also shared his professional experiences through orations at the United States Conference on AIDS, Creating Change Conference, and recently as a panelist at the ESSENCE music festival, moderated by Soledad O’Brien and alongside Jussie Smollett of the show “Empire”.
Dr. Moore is a practicing primary care internal medicine and HIV physician at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente. He is a medical graduate of Morehouse School of Medicine, completed primary care internal medicine residency at Yale University School of Medicine, and recently completed his Masters of Science in Health Policy and Management at University of California, Los Angeles. Following the completion of Clinical Scholars, Dr. Moore will begin a new role as Associate Medical Director for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Division of HIV and STD Programs.
