As an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, Dr. Shannon Zullo is a dermatology resident at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and one of the few reservation-born physicians in the country.
Dr. Zullo is committed to improving health disparity gaps for underserved communities. Currently, she serves on the governing council of the American Medical Association's Minority Affairs Section as the Resident & Fellows representative. And previously, as the Medical Student representative. Dr. Zullo also serves on the American Academy of Dermatology’s Diversity Champion Workshop task force.
As an avid researcher, Dr. Zullo is passionate about investigating dermatologic health care disparities, skin cancer, and the psychosocial effects of diseases and treatment. She completed a clinical research fellowship in dermatology & dermatologic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Zullo has presented her research at national conferences and in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Zullo received both her Doctor of Medicine and Master’s degree in Cellular & Molecular Medicine from the University of Arizona. For her efforts, she was awarded the AMA’s Minority Scholars Award and National Medical Fellowships’ Mary Ball Carrera Award. Prior to joining UCSF Dermatology, she completed her internship in Internal Medicine at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
