Dr. Briancca Marshall attended the illustrious Howard University in Washington, DC. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2015. Her passion for healthcare is driven by memories of her late father who passed due to kidney failure just one month after she received her degree.
Currently, Dr. Marshall is a Pharmacy Manager in a community-based Walgreens in the heart of the southside of Chicago. Her location is an integral part of Walgreens Health Equity Initiative. During the civil unrest which resulted after George Floyd’s devastating murder, Dr. Marshall’s location was looted and ultimately destroyed to the point of no return. However, she remained steadfast in the implementation and maintenance of a mobile pharmacy in the location’s parking lot. She believed it was critical to be able to continue to provide pharmacy services in her community. Dr. Marshall’s efforts gained the attention of many, including many city officials, and even garnered a news televised visit from Mayor Lori Lightfoot.
Through the mobile pharmacy operations Dr. Marshall provided many services including providing COVID vaccines to the community ensuring that her patients were being protected from the emerging virus. Once her location was rebuilt over a year later in Fall of 2021, and she was able to do more for the community, Dr. Marshall began to provide vaccines on a larger scale. Not only was she providing vaccines in the store, but she also began to orchestrate weekly COVID and flu clinics at one of the largest churches on the southside of Chicago. This remains an ongoing project for her as she believes equal access to care is extremely important.
Dr. Marshall also partners with Boys & Girls Club of Chicago and their mentoring program. Through their program she does many different things. She not only mentors the students but she also provides job readiness skills and job training for those interested in the field of pharmacy.
Dr. Marshall recently celebrated her six-year work anniversary with Walgreens. In a very short time, she has been recognized as a high performer, has worked on several special projects, and has been promoted three times. She aspires to continue to make her parents proud and do a tremendous job working her way up the company ladder as far as her talents and abilities will take her!
