Dr. David Trotter, MD, FACEP, currently serves as the Chair of Emergency Medicine at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Dr. Trotter earned his Bachelor of Science from Howard University and his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He then completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at the University of Chicago where he was named the Chief Resident of Community Health. Dr. Trotter previously served as the Housebased Chair and Medical Director at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields where he oversaw the clinical and operational direction of the Emergency Department. In his current role as Chair, Dr. Trotter leads the Advocate Illinois Masonic Emergency Department and supports their mission of serving patients and delivering the highest quality emergency care and level one trauma care in the city of Chicago. Dr. Trotter is an excellent physician and proven leader who has received numerous accolades and awards for his tireless contributions, including the Dr. Wes Curry Executive Leadership Award, an honor given to an Emergency Medicine Physician or Administrator who has demonstrated excellence in leadership, collaboration, innovation and culture. Dr. Trotter has a strong commitment to underserved populations and has participated in numerous community events and mentorship opportunities. He has a strong desire to decrease healthcare disparities and care for the most vulnerable populations.
Currently, Dr. Trotter is an ongoing medical correspondent on radio and TV programs to address the Covid-19 pandemic and other healthcare related topics. He resides with his wife and children in Chicago. Dr. Trotter enjoys playing sports, political advocacy, community organizing, and traveling with his family.
