Kevin Stephens Jr was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. While Kevin lived in New Orleans, he watched Hurricane Katrina expose the inequities and inefficiencies of our healthcare system. This tragedy led to Kevin’s passion to change healthcare to provide equitable, efficient, and accessible care for all. After completing an undergraduate degree in Molecular Biochemistry & Biophysics at Yale College, a combined MD/MBA at the University of Chicago, and Family Medicine residency at Georgetown University where he served as Chief Resident, he returned to Chicago to join Oak Street Health.
Kevin served as Medical Director of Oak Street Health’s Avalon Park center in the South Side of Chicago. He has also served as the interim Program Director for the company’s Fellowship for Value-based Care Leadership. During the pandemic, Kevin helped lead the implementation of a program to care for patients diagnosed or suspected to have COVID-19 and was heavily involved in the COVID-19 vaccination efforts. He currently serves as Oak Street Health’s Senior Medical Director for Louisiana & Mississippi.
