Dr. Angel Desai is an infectious diseases physician and Assistant Professor at the University of California, Davis. Her research focuses on leveraging novel data sources to discern epidemiological trends in emerging diseases and outbreaks, particularly among displaced and other vulnerable populations. Her other work includes global infection prevention and control measures in resource-limited settings. Angel obtained her Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in 2007 and M.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2013. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Washington and her infectious disease fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. She also completed a Master of Public Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in 2019, is an Emerging Leader in Biosecurity Initiative Fellow through the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, and an Emerging Leader in Infectious Diseases at the International Society for Infectious Diseases.
