Originally from Biloxi, Mississippi, Dr. LaTasha R. Seliby earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Davis; and her medical doctorate from the University of Alabama, Birmingham School of Medicine. She received her residency training from the Spartanburg Regional Family Medicine Program in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Dr. Seliby recently completed her training as Georgetown University School of Medicine’s inaugural Health and Media fellow in the Department of Family Medicine. This honor makes her the first and only physician in the US to receive such training.
Dr. Seliby is currently a College Health physician at Georgetown University. Her accomplishments include: Panelist for the Congressional Tri-Caucus Minority Health Disparities Summit, 2015 Society of Teachers of Family Medicine New Faculty Scholar, presenter at Georgetown University’s CENTILE 2015 Colloquium, a production assistant of news segments for World News and Good Morning America, contributor for the Washington Post and ABC News dot com, and she is a regular presenter on interviewing skills and Pre-Medical Education and Career advising in the Washington DC metro area.
Dr. Seliby’s hope is to aggressively influence positive change in health care disparities and health education in minority and underserved populations. Her goal is to leave a legacy that improves the general public’s view of the Family Medicine and Minority physicians via media and mass communication. Dr. Seliby plans to accomplish this as a Medical/Health correspondent and writer while continuing to grow as a socially responsible Medical educator exhibiting clinical excellence.
