Cardiovascular Disease Health Equity
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the number one cause of death in the United States annually, surpassing all types of cancer and unintentional injury. Black Americans are 30% more likely to die from CVD than non-Hispanic Whites, 85% more likely than Hispanics, and over 130% more likely than Asian Americans.
Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, which impacts nearly 30 million people in the U.S. annually, disproportionately affects people of color, particularly Black Americans and AI/ANs.
