COVID-19 Vaccination: Lessons Learned from Barber and Stylist Health Champions

COVID-19 Vaccination: Lessons Learned from Barber and Stylist Health Champions

Join us today to hear how hair salons and barbershops became important sources of education and support for vaccination as the pandemic raged through vulnerable Black communities.

This session will feature lessons learned from hair stylists and barbers - as well as a roadmap for success to help take your community from vaccine-hesitant to vaccine-confident.

Speakers will include the University of Maryland's Dr. Stephen B. Thomas, one of the nation's leading scholars in the effort to eliminate racial and ethnic health disparities. Dr. Thomas has applied his expertise to address a variety of conditions from which minorities generally face far poorer outcomes - and his efforts to promote vaccination in Maryland barbershops, offering coronavirus shots in addition to cuts and shaves, has been recognized by The White House.
