Dr. Jennifer Walton is the Associate Division Chief of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. She co-directs NCH’s interdisciplinary Williams Syndrome Clinic. Dr. Walton serves as the Director of Clinical Services at The Ohio State University’s Nisonger Center (a University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities). She also holds a leadership role as a Co-Associate Director of Ohio State’s Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities (LEND) Program. Dr. Walton specializes in the identification and management of children with various developmental and behavioral challenges, including ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder. She believes in promoting an interdisciplinary approach to optimize care. Dr. Walton’s interest in equity, diversity, and inclusion leads her to champion for the rights of individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities to access healthcare, education, and employment. At the national level, Dr. Walton holds several important leadership positions, including her roles as a member of the Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics’ Board of Directors and as a member of the Williams Syndrome Association’s Professional Advisory Board. Through the American Academy of Pediatrics, she serves on both an advisory committee and an expert group for the organization. This year, Dr. Walton completes her term as Chair for the Pediatric Section of the National Medical Association. She also previously held positions as a past National Vice President and past Professional Board Member of the Student National Medical Association. Dr. Walton graduated from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM, now called NEOMED). She completed her pediatrics residency at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. In addition to a fellowship in developmental-behavioral pediatrics at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Dr. Walton earned her Master’s in Public Health from the University of Pennsylvania, with a focus in Social and Behavioral Sciences.
